2. Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Navigate to your Profile page from the main navigation menu.
  2. Locate the WhatsApp card and enter your phone number in international format (example: +27 83 443 3787). The system accepts numbers with spaces, dashes, or parentheses.
  3. Click the Connect button. You’ll see a success toast: “WhatsApp connected! Check your WhatsApp for a message from SupaSherpa.”
  4. Open WhatsApp on your phone. You’ll receive an immediate welcome message from SupaSherpa (+27 73 810 0350) addressing you by name and outlining what SupaSherpa can do for your role - project status, momentum tracking, savings updates, and your #1 priority action.
  5. Reply to the welcome message with any text. This automatically verifies your WhatsApp channel.
  6. SupaSherpa sends a second message confirming verification and including your personalized next action with a direct link to complete it.
  7. Return to your Profile page (or wait a few seconds). The WhatsApp card updates to show “Connected and verified” with a green success indicator.
  8. Start messaging SupaSherpa directly on WhatsApp. Ask about your project, request momentum reports, or get your current priority action.

3. Common Questions

What number format should I use when connecting WhatsApp?
Use international format starting with + followed by your country code and number. Examples: +27 83 443 3787 or +1-555-123-4567. The system strips spaces, dashes, and parentheses automatically, so any format works as long as you include the country code. What if I don’t receive the welcome message right away?
The welcome message sends within seconds of registration. If you don’t see it, check that you entered the correct number and that you can receive messages from unknown numbers on WhatsApp. The business number is +27 73 810 0350. If you still don’t receive it, disconnect and reconnect your number from the Profile page. Can I verify my WhatsApp without replying to the welcome message?

4. Troubleshooting

The Profile page still shows “pending verification” even though I replied to the welcome message.
The Profile page polls for verification status every 5 seconds for up to 60 seconds. Wait a few moments and the status should update automatically. If it doesn’t update after a minute, refresh the page manually. If the issue persists, the verification may not have completed - try sending another message to SupaSherpa. I entered my number with spaces but it looks different on my Profile page.
The system stores your number without the + symbol, spaces, or dashes to match WhatsApp’s webhook format. When displaying it, the system adds + back for readability. Both +27834433787 and 27834433787 refer to the same number. This normalization prevents duplicate registrations. I’m receiving messages but my channel shows as unverified.
This shouldn’t happen with the current system. If you’re receiving messages, your channel should auto-verify on your first reply. Disconnect your WhatsApp from the Profile page and reconnect it. The welcome message will trigger again and verification should complete when you reply. What if I need to change my WhatsApp number?
Disconnect your current WhatsApp number from the Profile page, then connect your new number following the same steps. You’ll receive a fresh welcome message and can verify the new number by replying.
