Spec Pipeline Dashboard

1. Overview

The Spec Pipeline Dashboard shows you exactly where your project specification stands in the generation process. After you submit your brief through the wizard, track your project through seven distinct stages - from initial Business Requirements to your final Technical Specification. No guessing, no waiting in the dark - just clear visibility into what’s happening with your spec and when you need to take action.

2. Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Access the dashboard - After completing the wizard and submitting your brief, the system automatically redirects you to the Pipeline Dashboard for your project. You can also reach it anytime from your job list by clicking on any project currently in processing.
  2. Monitor pipeline progress - The dashboard displays all seven stages in sequence: BRS (Business Requirements Spec) → FRS (Functional Requirements Spec) → TRS (Technical Requirements Spec) → Sherpa Review → FSD (Functional System Design) → TSD (Technical System Design) → Final Spec. The current active stage appears highlighted with a distinct visual treatment.
  3. View completed stages - Click on any completed stage to view the generated document for that stage. Each completed stage shows a completion timestamp and indicator. You can switch between viewing different stage outputs - each document loads with proper formatting.
  4. Respond to Sherpa Review feedback - When the Sherpa Review stage completes with “changes requested” status, you’ll see a prominent notification indicating action is required. Click to view specific feedback items with clear explanations. Enter your text responses for each item and submit your feedback.
  5. Review your final spec - When the pipeline reaches the “Spec Ready” stage, you’ll see a completion message with a clear call-to-action to review your final specification. Click through to access your complete project spec.
  6. Manage multiple projects - View your job list to see summary status for all your projects. Each project displays its current pipeline stage, allowing you to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

3. Common Questions

How long does the pipeline take to complete?
Processing time varies by stage. The dashboard displays time elapsed for in-progress stages. Most pipelines complete within hours, but complex projects may take longer. The system continues processing in the background even if you navigate away.
What happens if the Sherpa review requests changes?
You’ll see a prominent action indicator when changes are requested. Review the specific feedback items, provide your comments or clarifications for each item, then submit. The system automatically re-runs relevant pipeline stages from the point of feedback to incorporate your input.
Can I view documents while the pipeline is still running?
Yes - you can view any completed stage’s document immediately. Stages still in progress or pending show an appropriate message indicating the document isn’t yet available. The dashboard updates automatically as each stage completes.
What if a pipeline stage fails?
The dashboard displays a clear error state with the failure reason and guidance on next steps. You’ll see what went wrong and have options to retry or contact support if the issue persists.
Can I leave the page while processing continues?
Yes - the pipeline continues processing in the background. You can navigate away and return later through your job list. The dashboard gracefully handles connectivity interruptions and restores state when you reconnect.

4. Troubleshooting

Pipeline appears stuck or not responding
If a stage shows no progress after a reasonable period, check your connectivity first. If connection is stable and the stage appears stuck, you’ll see a timeout indicator with options to retry or contact support. The system tracks processing time and alerts you to potential issues.
Can’t view a completed stage document
Ensure the stage shows a completion indicator and timestamp before attempting to view. If marked complete but the document won’t load, try refreshing the dashboard. If the issue persists, check your browser console for errors or contact support with your job ID.
Feedback submission fails during Sherpa Review
If submitting feedback for requested changes fails, verify you’ve provided comments for all required items. Check your network connection. If the submission still fails, your draft responses should be preserved - refresh the page and try again. Contact support if repeated attempts fail.
Multiple re-runs after feedback still fail
If providing feedback and re-running stages results in repeated failures, you’ll see the new failure state with options to provide additional feedback or escalate to support. Include details about what you’ve already tried when contacting support.
Brief Review - Before the pipeline starts, you reviewed and confirmed your extracted brief. Return to Brief Review if you need to make fundamental changes to your project requirements before spec generation completes. Spec Review - After the pipeline completes and delivers your final spec, move to Spec Review to examine the complete specification in detail, provide final approval, and proceed with your project implementation. Job List - Manage all your projects from the Job List page. See pipeline status summaries for each project, navigate between multiple projects, and track overall progress across your portfolio of ventures.
