Brief Confidence Assessment & Improvement Loop

1. Overview

After you submit your project brief, the system evaluates it across seven quality dimensions and shows you exactly where it’s strong and where it needs work. You get a confidence score with actionable recommendations - upload the suggested documents, watch your score improve, and ship to BRS generation with a solid foundation. This quality gate catches gaps early, saves expert time reviewing incomplete briefs, and ensures your deliverables match your vision.

2. Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Submit your brief - Once you complete your project brief through the wizard or upload process, the system automatically queues a confidence assessment. You’ll see your onboarding status update to “Assessing Confidence.”
  2. Wait for Sherpa review - The AI evaluates your brief against seven dimensions (Problem, Solution, Market, Technical Approach, Execution Plan, Metrics, and Risks for Fiftyknots projects). A human Sherpa reviews the AI assessment before you see it - this usually takes less than 24 hours.
  3. Receive your confidence report - You’ll get an email with your overall confidence score (0-100), a letter grade (A through F), and a breakdown showing which dimensions are strong (green), need attention (amber), or require critical improvements (red). The email includes a link to view the full report in your dashboard at /confidencereport/confidencereport.
  4. Review specific recommendations - Each weak dimension shows exactly what’s missing and what documents or information would improve it. For example, if your Technical Approach scores 45%, you might see: “Upload a system architecture diagram” with an estimated impact of “+25-30 points.”
  5. Upload improvement documents - Click “Upload Documents” and add the requested materials to your project vault. The system acknowledges receipt and automatically triggers a re-assessment within minutes.
  6. Iterate or proceed - If your updated score meets the ready threshold (75% for Fiftyknots, 80% for Acumen), you’ll get a congratulatory email and move to BRS generation. If not, you can upload more documents (up to 3 iterations total) or click “Proceed Anyway” to continue with your current score.
  7. Move to BRS generation - Once you meet the threshold or choose to proceed, your brief advances to BRS generation. Any remaining gaps are noted for the BRS worker to address in your deliverable.

3. Common Questions

Q: What happens if I don’t upload any improvements after receiving my confidence report?
A: The system waits 7 days per iteration. If you don’t upload anything within that window, it automatically proceeds to BRS generation with your current score and adds an advisory note. You won’t be stuck - the maximum total wait time is 21 days across all iterations.
Q: Can I proceed to BRS generation even if my score is below the ready threshold?
A: Yes. Click “Proceed Anyway” on your confidence report. You’ll see a confirmation modal explaining the risks and specific gaps. If you confirm, the system notes your override and moves forward. Your BRS will include an advisory section about the unresolved gaps so the expert team can address them.
Q: How does the system know which documents to recommend for my specific project?
A: The AI assessment analyzes your brief content against brand-specific evaluation criteria. For Fiftyknots briefs, it checks Problem definition (15% weight), Solution clarity (15%), Market opportunity (15%), Technical Approach (20%), Execution Plan (15%), Success Metrics (10%), and Risk Mitigation (10%). For each weak dimension, it identifies what’s missing and suggests specific document types that would fill those gaps.
Q: Will I get the same recommendations if I re-assess without uploading anything new?
A: No. The system only triggers re-assessment when you upload new documents. If you want to see how your score would change with hypothetical improvements, review the “estimated impact” shown with each recommendation - it tells you the expected point increase.
Q: What if my Sherpa hasn’t reviewed my assessment after 24 hours?
A: The system auto-releases assessments that sit in review for more than 24 hours. You’ll receive your confidence report with a note that it was “Auto-approved after 24h review window.” Your experience isn’t blocked by Sherpa availability.

4. Troubleshooting

Issue: I uploaded documents but didn’t see a re-assessment happen
Check your onboarding status - if it still shows “Brief Improving” rather than “Assessing Confidence,” the re-assessment is queued but not yet started. This usually takes under 2 minutes. If more than 5 minutes pass, refresh your dashboard. The system may be processing a large document. If the issue persists beyond 30 minutes, check your project messaging or contact your Sherpa.
Issue: My score went down after uploading new documents
This rarely happens but can occur if new documents reveal contradictions with your original brief. Review the updated gap analysis - it shows which dimensions changed and why. The recommendations will guide you on how to resolve the contradictions. You can upload clarifying documents in your next iteration.
Issue: The “Proceed Anyway” button is grayed out
You can only proceed manually once you’ve received your confidence report (status: “Brief Improving”). If you’re still in “Assessing Confidence” or “Confidence Reviewed,” wait for the email notification. If you’ve already proceeded or reached the maximum 3 iterations, the button won’t be available.
Issue: I’m on my third iteration and still below threshold - what happens now?
After iteration 3, the system automatically proceeds to BRS generation with an advisory note: “Brief proceeding with confidence score X% - recommendations noted for BRS generation.” You won’t be offered additional iterations, but your BRS will be generated with the expert team aware of the gaps to address.
Data Room Vault (/dataroomlist) - Upload and organize all your project documents in one secure location. Documents you add here during the confidence loop are automatically included in re-assessments. After BRS generation, your vault becomes the single source of truth for all project materials. Brief Review (/briefreview) - Review and edit your extracted brief before the confidence assessment begins. A stronger initial brief means fewer improvement iterations and a faster path to BRS generation. This is your chance to add missing details before the AI evaluates your submission. Journey Overview (/journeyoverview) - Track your progress through the entire venture building pipeline. The confidence loop is one stage in your journey - see what comes before and after, understand your current blockers, and view estimated completion dates for upcoming milestones.
