Step-by-Step Guide

Browsing Available Jobs

  1. Access the Jobs Board - Navigate to /jobsboard from your dashboard
  2. View Job Listings - See all available jobs with title, description summary, Hero’s Journey stage (Call, Commitment, Building, Testing, Launch, Completion), required skills, estimated timeline, and rate range
  3. Filter by Stage - Select one or multiple stage filters to narrow results. Jobs in any selected stage will appear
  4. Review Job Details - Click on a job to see full requirements and specifications

Starting an Anonymous Conversation

  1. Initiate Contact - Click “Ask Question” on any job listing that interests you
  2. Send Your First Message - An anonymous chat session opens automatically. The client sees you as “Anonymous Expert #[ID]”, not your real name
  3. Exchange Messages - Ask clarifying questions about scope, timeline, or requirements. Messages deliver in real-time (within 2 seconds)
  4. Track Conversations - Access all your active chats from your unified inbox, showing job titles, last message preview, and unread count

Managing Multiple Conversations

  1. Switch Between Chats - Open your inbox to see conversations across multiple jobs. Each shows the originating job title and context
  2. Monitor Job Status - Receive notifications when jobs you’re discussing change stages or get filled by another expert
  3. Review Chat History - All conversations save automatically and remain accessible even after jobs close

Identity Reveal and Next Steps

  1. Accept a Job Offer - When you receive and accept an allocation for a job, both your identity and the client’s identity reveal automatically
  2. Continue with Real Names - After acceptance, previous “Anonymous Expert” messages update to show your real name, and new messages appear with full identities
  3. Preserve Anonymity on Decline - If you decline or aren’t selected, your identity remains anonymous permanently

Common Questions

Can multiple experts ask questions on the same job?
Yes. Each expert gets a separate anonymous chat thread with the client. The client manages multiple conversations independently. Your anonymous ID is unique per job, so clients can’t connect your inquiries across different opportunities. What happens if the client doesn’t respond to my questions?
You’ll see if messages remain unread. The system notifies clients of new questions within 5 minutes and sends reminders after 24 hours. If you receive no response within 48 hours, you can abandon the conversation and move to other opportunities. Will my identity leak through my messages?
The system assigns you “Anonymous Expert #[ID]” labels that differ across jobs for privacy. Avoid sharing identifying information like email addresses or phone numbers in your messages. Basic pattern detection flags potential identity reveals, and clients can report violations. What happens to my chat if the job gets filled while we’re talking?
You receive immediate notification that the job is no longer available. The chat archives automatically but remains accessible for reference. The system may offer similar job recommendations based on your conversation history. Can I see which stage a job is in while we chat?
Yes. Job details display alongside your chat history. If the job transitions to a new Hero’s Journey stage during your conversation, you’ll receive a notification of the change.

Troubleshooting

My messages aren’t sending
Check your internet connection. Messages should deliver within 2 seconds. If delays persist beyond 5 seconds, refresh the page. Your typed message saves locally and won’t be lost. I can’t find a conversation I started yesterday
Check your inbox filters. Conversations may be marked as “closed” if the job was filled or removed, but they remain in your history. Use the “All Conversations” view to see archived chats. I accidentally revealed identifying information in a message
You cannot edit sent messages, but you can flag your own message for moderator review. Contact support immediately if you’ve shared sensitive personal data. Future job conversations remain separate and anonymous. The job disappeared from the board but I have an active chat
The job may have transitioned to a new stage or been temporarily paused. Check notifications for updates. If the job was filled or closed, your chat archives but remains accessible.
