Expert Registration with Story-Based Profiling lets you build your profile by sharing real project stories instead of checking boxes on a form. You write 3-5 narratives about work you've done, and AI extracts your skills, expertise levels, and domain knowledge within 30 seconds. This approach captures what you actually know - not just what keywords you remember - and gets you matched to relevant opportunities faster.

### 2. Step-by-Step Guide

1. **Accept your invitation** - Click the registration link sent to your email (valid for 7 days). Enter your name, contact details, and location on the account creation page.

2. **Write your project stories** - Navigate to the Expert Story Profiling Wizard page. Write 3-5 narratives describing past projects (up to 2000 characters each). Focus on what you built, the challenges you solved, and the technologies you used.

3. **Review AI-extracted skills** - Within 30 seconds, the system analyzes each story and presents inferred skills, expertise levels (beginner, intermediate, or expert), and domains. Review the extracted profile data.

4. **Confirm or edit skills** - Confirm skills the AI detected correctly. Edit expertise levels if needed. Add any skills the AI missed. Remove any incorrect inferences.

5. **Set your job preferences** - Select job types you want (one-time projects, ongoing support, consultation, emergency fixes). Choose 1-5 industries from the taxonomy. Define your availability (5-40 hours per week) and timezone.

6. **Configure your rates** - Enter your minimum and maximum hourly rate in USD. The system validates that your minimum is lower than your maximum.

7. **Activate your profile** - Review your complete profile summary. Click "Activate Profile" to make yourself visible to the matchmaking system. You receive a confirmation notification when activation succeeds.

**What if the AI doesn't detect all my skills?**\
Add missing skills manually after the AI analysis completes. The system supports manual skill additions for anything the AI didn't catch. You can add skills even after activating your profile.

**Can I update my stories after I activate?**\
Yes. Add new stories or edit existing ones anytime. The system re-runs AI analysis on new stories and merges the extracted skills with your existing profile without losing previous data.

**What happens if my availability changes?**\
Update your preferences (hours per week, timezone, rates) anytime in the Expert Dashboard. Changes take effect immediately for future job matching without requiring you to redo your profiling.

**How does the system handle overlapping skills from different stories?**\
The system consolidates duplicate skills automatically. If multiple stories suggest different expertise levels for the same skill, it shows the highest level detected.

**Can I temporarily stop receiving job offers?**\
Yes. Deactivate your profile in the Expert Dashboard to pause job offers. Your profile remains in the system but becomes invisible to matchmaking. Reactivate whenever you're ready.

**"Invitation link has expired"**\
Your registration link expires after 7 days. Request a new invitation from the platform administrator who originally invited you.

**AI analysis shows no meaningful skills**\
Provide more detailed stories with specific technologies, methodologies, and outcomes. Include technical terms and project context. If skills still aren't detected after 2 attempts, the system flags your profile for human review.

**Cannot set minimum rate higher than maximum**\
The system validates that your minimum hourly rate is less than your maximum. Adjust your rates so the minimum is lower than the maximum before saving.

**Stories in non-English languages**\
The system supports translation with confidence indicators. You can specify the language of each narrative. Translation may slightly affect skill detection accuracy.

**Job Board** - Browse available opportunities that match your skills and preferences. Your activated profile determines which jobs you see and which clients see you.

**Expert Dashboard** - Track your active allocations, earnings, and pending job offers. Accept or decline opportunities based on your current availability and interests.
